Hi Polyglots team πŸ‘‹

We’re the team behind the Simply.IN payment gateway pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. and we’d like to renew our earlier request for help with translation review. Some of you may remember our previous post on the same topic – we wanted to follow up because the situation hasn’t fully resolved yet.

The localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ where we currently need help the most are:

A note on transparency: the stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in these three locales were initially prepared with significant help from AI. We genuinely tried to find human translators going from Polish into these languages who also understand ecommerce / payment-gateway terminology AND WordPress translation conventions (formal vs informal forms, glossary, plural rules, etc.) – but that exact combination of skills turned out to be practically impossible to source on our side. In our experience, well-prompted AI with proper project context has actually produced more consistent and terminologically coherent first drafts than the partial human translations we were previously able to commission – but we fully understand that’s no replacement for a native-speaker review, which is exactly why we’re here.

So we’re not asking anyone to translate from scratch, and we’re not asking for blanket approval of AI output. We’re asking native speakers from the #el, #bg_BG and #sr_RS teams to take a look, correct what the AI got wrong, and approve only what stands up to scrutiny.

If anyone has bandwidth, we’d be enormously grateful. Happy to provide context on any strings, explain payment-flow specifics, or answer questions about the plugin’s domain – just pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of β€œPing me when the meeting starts.” us here or in the comments.

Thanks so much for everything you do for the WordPress ecosystem! πŸ™
