Steps
- Find an unanswered question. Check the no replies view first. If empty, browse unresolved topics. You can also help with forums in your language.
-
Read the question carefully. Look for what the user is trying to achieve, what they’ve already tried, and any error messages they’ve mentioned. If you do not see the same issue, try testing in another browser.
-
Research a solution. Search for similar issues, check documentation, or experiment with the problem yourself. You can use search engines, AI tools, or tinker in a test environment. If necessary, you can ask the user for more context.
-
Test your solution. Use WordPress Playground or another test site to verify your fix works before sharing it. This is especially important if you used AI tools to help find the solution.
-
Write a clear answer. Share the solution in concise, simple steps. Link to relevant documentation when helpful, and use a patient and kind tone. Do not simply restate earlier replies, and avoid pasting long AI-generated responses. Consider how your response adds value to the thread.
-
Follow up if needed. Check back to see if your answer helped or if the user needs clarification.
Contribution checklist
- Your answer was clear, concise, and confirmed
- You followed the forum guidelines
- If you used AI, you did not simply copy and paste
What happens next
The person who asked the question will see your response and can mark the topic as resolved if it helped. Other community members might add to your answer or suggest alternatives. Keep an eye on your answered topics for a day or two in case follow-up is needed.
