Function: Organize
Type: Task
Level: Beginner
Help grow the pathways index by suggesting a new contribution pathway. You can point to an existing process already documented in a team handbook, or share a contribution idea that’s supported by a team.
Before you start
Complete the common setup first, then:
- Read: About Pathways to understand what makes a good pathway
- Connect: Join #core-program and introduce yourself
Steps
- Search the Pathways project board to make sure your idea isn’t already there. If it is, add feedback or volunteer to draft a guide.
- Ask yourself: is this idea based on an existing, already-maintained process or team? If it’s something new that would need ongoing maintenance, it’ll need team vetting first.
- Gather any relevant links and context — handbook pages, team channels, documentation, or examples that support your idea.
- File a New Pathway issue and include the links and context you gathered, then create the issue.
Contribution checklist
- Your idea is based on an existing process or team, or you’ve confirmed team support
- You’ve searched the project board and confirmed it’s not already there
- You’ve gathered relevant links and context
- You’ve filed a New Pathway issue with all the information
What happens next
Your suggestion goes to the project board for review. You can volunteer to write the guide yourself, or someone else from the community can pick it up.
Help
Stuck? Check the getting help guide, then ask in #core-program.
Note: File a pathway issue rather than editing the pathways index directly. The issue process ensures your idea gets proper review.
