Sandbox request for WordPress.org edits

Hi Systems!
I’m requesting a sandbox so I can make and test edits to WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ pages. In particular, I’m working on enterprise & verticals pages. My WordPress.org username is Noel_Tock. My public ssh key is:

Akismet missing from recent nightly build

It seems that the nightly build from last night (April 20, 2026) did not contain the Akismet pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party.. There have been some sporadic 502/504 errors from the SVNSVN Apache Subversion (often abbreviated SVN, after its command name svn) is a software versioning and revision control system. Software developers use Subversion to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation. WordPress core and the wordpress.org released code are all centrally managed through SVN. https://subversion.apache.org/. server over the last few days (see this GitHub Actions log) that may have caused this, but the exact root cause is unknown.

This was surfaced by the WP-CLI team when they noticed their tests were failing on the latest nightly build because the plugin was absent and expected to be there.

I downloaded the nightly from https://wordpress.org/nightly-builds/wordpress-latest.zip and confirmed that the plugin was indeed missing. I manually regenerated the nightly for trunk after that and wp-content/plugins/akismet is now present as expected.

It’s unclear whether this is an issue only affecting the nightly builds, or if it could also occur when building packages for a final release. From a user perspective, it’s unlikely that anything would be broken (the install would just not have Akismet preinstalled, which could be argued is detrimental to the overall user experience). But ideally any errors when including an SVN external (or however Akismet is included in the bundle) should be surfaced to allow for a retry, or the build should automatically retry/mark the build as failed to ensure that the packages consistently include everything that’s expected.

i18n svn db file ownership/corruption issues

Looks like some SVNSVN Apache Subversion (often abbreviated SVN, after its command name svn) is a software versioning and revision control system. Request for additional cli utils on .org sandbox

Heya, after my sandbox was approved, I’d be grateful if you can add these tools on it that will help my development workflows:

  • ripgrep
  • claude and/or codex
  • wp-cli (non-blocker, I downloaded the phar but would be good to have it globally)

Remove mu.wordpress.org’s deprecated forums

As this domain is no longer actively used, and we don’t need the MU support forumSupport Forum WordPress Support Forums is a place to go for help and conversations around using WordPress. Also the place to go to report issues that are caused by errors with the WordPress code and implementations. archives from 15 years ago accessible, can we please:

  • Redirect https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/* to https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite/
  • Return 404 https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/rss/* or let it fall through to the redirect to /

This will mean we don’t need to update bbPressbbPress Free, open source software built on top of WordPress for easily creating forums on sites. https://bbpress.org 0.9 for the next PHPPHP PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. https://www.php.net/manual/en/preface.php upgrade.

Enable SSL for additional *.wp.org domains

End-users often shorten links to WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ with the wp.org domain. This isn’t an official domain that’s used, but we do have a redirect in place for it.

Currently the list of SSLSSL Secure Socket Layer - Encryption from the server to the browser and back. Prevents prying eyes from seeing what you are sending between your browser and the server.-enabled subdomains is rather small compared to the *.wordpress.org domains.

Can we expand the list of subdomains SSL is supported on, at least to the non-locale-site domains used by contributors?

wp.org www.wp.org developer.wp.org events.wp.org make.wp.org learn.wp.org login.wp.org profiles.wp.org sv.wp.org translate.wp.org schemas.wp.org

I do note that sv.wp.org is included in the current SSL cert, I’m unsure why that domain was specifically included, I don’t personally think it’s worth listing all rosetta subdomains, as we’d have to constantly update the list, so I haven’t included those above. Similarly, I don’t think it’s worth enabling wildcard support for this domain at this time due to the LE integration limitations at present.

ImageMagick for Photo Directory?

https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7460 has asked:

Would it be possible to use ImageMagick for the Photo Directory to better preserve the original colors in the submitted photos?

Is it possible to enable ImageMagick on WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/? Any systems reasons why it shouldn’t be?

Email rejected as ‘high probability of spam’

There’s been multiple reports over the last few weeks of emails from Gsuite being rejected due to the below details, I’ve been unable to verify it from a gsuite account.

The response from the remote server was:
554 5.7.1 High probability of spam

Here’s one example of it, including the full email headers of the rejection:

Sandbox request for learn.wordpress.org testing

I would like to request a Dotorg sandbox in order to test bug fixes and enhancements for learn.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/.

At the moment members of the WordPress training team do have a way to configure a local development environment for testing bug fixes and enhancements, but it doesn’t allow us to easily test those against as close to a copy of the live environment as possible.

This means we have to rely on someone who already has a sandbox to do a final test before we can merge any changes.

To achieve this, I’d like to request a sandbox that does not have svn commit access, meaning I would not be able to commit changes or trigger a deployment, but has write access to the files and folders relevant to learn.wordpress.org so that I could test code changes submitted as PRs on our GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. https://github.com/ repository.

The relevant files and folders are:

  • wp-content/mu-plugins/pub/locale-switcher.php
  • wp-content/mu-plugins/pub/class-validator.php
  • wp-content/mu-plugins/pub/locales.php
  • wp-content/plugins/sensei-pro
  • wp-content/plugins/wporg-learn
  • wp-content/themes/pub/wporg-learn-2020

A sandbox with this configuration will allow us to perform this final test within the training team, without needing to rely on folks from other teams. DeployingDeploy Launching code from a local development environment to the production web server, so that it's available to visitors. the changes would still require an additional check from a member of the MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. team who does have svn commit access.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this request, or if you need anything from me.
