Highlights for the last two weeks:

  • Gutenberg mobile: Media upload is in place, rotation optimization on Android, image links, some visual fixes. Second to last sprint before declaring v1.0! 
  • Android: Post Filters on the Post List view project started.
  • Offline Support: We are kicking off this project by improving the messaging for offline situations.
  • WordPress.org/mobile: We are working on a redesign for that page.

Highlights for the last two weeks:

  • Gutenberg mobile: Focused on media upload and writing flow and the post title migration (into ReactNative). Fixed an issue with uploaded images from the camera and fixed a crash in certain new posts. 
  • iOS: Improvements to Post and Page Previews.
  • Android: Improved quality of featured images in Post Settings.

Mobile Team Update – January 15th

Highlights for the last two weeks:

  • Gutenberg mobile: Work on writing flow, post title field, and visual fixes.
  • We improved app stability by fixing 11 crashes, including our most frequent crash on Android and a very frequent crash on iOS.
  • We fixed several bugs in posting/editing, login/signup, and media.
  • We improved localization and accessibility.
  • We improved errors and empty states.
  • iOS: Made some improvements to the post settings screen on iPad, fixed a crash that could sometimes happen when deleting a site on iPad, fixed a crash on the “About” screen in App Settings.
  • Android: Added Giphy support, more compatibility improvements for Gutenberg, and fixed some rare bugs.

Highlights for the last –-very quiet– two weeks:

  • Gutenberg mobile: Improved keyboard behavior, and worked on some visual fixes to blocks.
  • iOS: Made some improvements to the post settings screen on iPad, fixed a crash that could sometimes happen when deleting a site on iPad, fixed a crash on the “About” screen in App Settings.
  • Android: Added Giphy support, more compatibility improvements for Gutenberg, and fixed some rare bugs.

  • Bug fixing.

  • iOS: Add Giphy gifs directly from the media toolbar when editing a post.
  • iOS: Viewing a post with many images is now faster.
  • Android: Improvements to posts feed synchronization.
  • More helpful error messages will assist you when logging in to your self-hosted site.

  • Gutenberg mobile kicked off the integration with the main WordPress apps.
  • iOS: Want to copy the link to a comment? Long-press its timestamp label.
  • iOS: Want to know the word and character counts for posts? Check out the editor action sheet title.
  • Android: We cleaned out some code cobwebs to make everything faster and more reliable.

Mobile Team Update – October 9th

Highlights for the last two weeks:

  • iOS: The XCode10/Swift 4.2 migration was completed.
  • iOS: The tyranny of the blank page is no more! We’ve added suggestions for next steps to every page without content.
  • iOS: When you write a new post, the app automatically saves drafts on your device, so none of your work is ever lost.
  • Android: We’ve restyled a few more screens to keep improving consistency across the app.
  • Mobile Gutenberg: We upgraded to the latest React Native version (getting us closer to Gutenberg web’s setup). We are moving forward with the bottom fixed formatting toolbar and the writing flow (new blocks on “Return” key).
