Marketing Team Update – February 14, 2018

Our vision for the Marketing Team is to be the go-to resource on strategy and content for other WordPress teams  — that means you.

Today’s Meeting

The Marketing team used today’s slackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. meeting to focused on updates to the tasks that exist in Trello currently. It’s our intention to move away from the working meeting and move toward this update model. So big shoutout to @mcdwayne for that suggestion.

It’s good to remember that everyone that contributes on this team are volunteers. We discussed our in-progress tasks including WCUS GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ User Testing Testimonial Videos, revisionsRevisions The WordPress revisions system stores a record of each saved draft or published update. The display indicates what has changed in each revision. to the Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. Handbook, and more.

Also of note is ensuring the Marketing Slack Channel is manned during Contributor Days. @bridgetwillard is reaching out to camps individually and keeping track on a Google Sheet. WC Bangkok is this weekend and @bridgetwillard will be on Slack from 6:30pm to 8:30 PST. A volunteer is needed to cover the WC Prague time period. That Google Sheet is here.

Titles and MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. Descriptions – Request from Meta

Of note is we also were asked to work with Meta on an SEO project which began last night. See Trello for more details.

Feel free to reach out to me (@gidgey on slack) or @mcdwayne if you have a project for Marketing. We will set up a TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. card and rally our team in Slack.

Today’s Meeting

Today’s meeting was the continuation of the last’s week meeting since we ran out of time. So, this time, the agenda was to continue with the card ‘scrub’ from last week. We followed up with the previously discussed TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. cards and the remaining ones which are listed on the Trello board.

During the first half of the meeting, @McDwayne did a quick round-up about the cards which were discussed in the previous meeting.

Read all about it on our blog.

Marketing Team Meeting Notes – December 20, 2017

We came from WCUS Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. on fire and ready to go with one unified vision: to become the marketing strategic advisors and content creators for you — the other Make WordPress teams.

We will not be meeting again until January 10, 2018.

We dedicated this meeting to a working meeting to things unfinished on our Trello Board, especially the WCUS Contributor Day Recap, the effort to get the word out about Make WordPress, and the jargon glossary.

Our whole meeting notes are here.

Marketing Team Update – December 13, 2017

This week the Make WordPress marketing team is working on a glossary to help breakdown the learning curve with industry jargon.

We hope to collaborate with the Design Team as soon as we’ve completed the copy.

We’re also wrapping up our summary article about WCUS Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. Marketing Team – November 15, 2017 Update

Hi everyone.

The Marketing Team has four subgroups, each of whom post updates on the Marketing Blog.

For consensus in our meetings, we’ve decided to work on one task and at the 45 minute mark take wish list items. This is helping with the overall flow of meetings.

In today’s meeting we primarily discussed onboarding documentation for contributors since Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. at WCUS is at the forefront of our minds. With that priority, we submitted this trac ticket to meta to create a clear CTA at the top of make.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ for all teams — to get them on dot org and WordPress SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/.. We welcome your feedback on the copy, of course, as well. There is a link to the Google Doc (that’s where the Marketing Team Collaborates) at the bottom of the ticket.

Thank you.

Marketing Team Update – November 2, 2017

Hi everyone.

The Marketing Team has four subgroups, each of whom post updates on the Marketing Blog.

For consensus in our meetings, we’ve decided to work on one task and at the 45 minute mark take wish list items. This is helping with the overall flow of meetings.

Marketing the Community

This week the Community subgroup met. We published “What makes a WordPress Meetup Great?” and are working on a task list for Contributor Day at WCUS. It should also be noted that David Skarjune and the Agency and End Users subgroups have started to work on our own Handbook. Our meeting notes are here.

Marketing Team Published Content

It’s worth noting how much the Team has published in 2017. As the year comes to a close and we approach WCUS, I’d like to thank the Marketing Team for all of this great content.
