Marketing Team Update – May 30, 2018

For those who want to join the team, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. If you have any questions or feel lost (all of us do at some point), please feel free to pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. We meet in Slack every Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time as a catch up on our tasks. However, anyone can chat in our Slack channel about anything at any time.

We use our weekly slack meeting to focus on updates to the tasks that currently exist in Trello.

We are excited about the upcoming Contributor Day at WordCamp Europe. Dwayne, Jen, Yvette and I will all be there to help assist and onboard new people with tasks.

The Create a Blog task is moving forward as the copy is approved and the wireframe has been assigned to the design team. It’s exciting to work on pages that will help WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/.

We are excited about the upcoming Contributor Day at WordCamp Europe. Dwayne, Jen, Yvette and I will all be there to help assist and onboard new people with tasks.

Marketing Team Update – March 23, 2018

Our vision for the Marketing Team is to be the go-to resource on strategy and content for other WordPress teams  — that means you.

Our big win this week was a project that @mcdwayne has been leading with @flixos90, our team, and coordinating with CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. and Design for a while: New User Quick Start Guide for Trac. We’re hopeful that this encourages people to participate in Core with more confidence.

It’s quite rewarding right now, actually. Lots to be proud of.

Our main update this week is that @mcdwayne is leading a Contribution Sprint with @bridgetwillard at 9am Sunday, March 11, to make a huge dent in our Handbook Copy. As a team, we believe we’ve got enough “tribal knowledge” as Dwayne puts it, to start putting that in a doc, making it easier to onboard new members and solidify our vision.

Contributor Days

Among our regular meetings, we monitored the Slack channel for WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Bangkok and an impromptu CD was held after WordCamp Phoenix. Thanks everyone!

About WordPress Press Kit

We also published the Press Kit we’ve been working on since WCUS Contributor Day.  Thanks to @andreamiddleton and Community for bringing this to us. @marybaum and @jenblogs4u rocked this with tons of help from @nuanel to make sure it’s translation ready. We edited text originally written for CMS Garden by the German WP Community. You rock, Robert!

Titles and MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. Descriptions – Request from Meta

Of note is we also were asked to work with Meta on an SEO project which was completed February 16.
