CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. (TracTrac Trac is the place where contributors create issues for bugs or feature requests much like GitHub.https://core.trac.wordpress.org/. and svn):
- 43 commits (+16 from previous week)
- 77 new tickets opened (+37 from previous week)
- 63 tickets closed (+6 from previous week)
GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/:
- 106 commits to trunk (-4 from previous week)
- 65 new issues opened (-16 from previous week)
- 72 issues closed (-115 from previous week)

Gutenberg releases:
- 🏁 18.0 was released on March 27.
- 🏁 18.1 RC1 was released on April 3, with full release due on April 10.
WordPress 6.5 was released on April 2.
- 6.5.x maintenance releases are currently being planned.
- 6.5.1 milestone has 17 tickets:
  - 7 new
  - 7 reopened
  - 3 closed
- 6.5.x Editor tasks board has 18 tickets:
  - 5 open tasks
  - 13 done tasks
  - 0 punted tasks
6.6 major release is underway:
- Current development phase: Alpha and call for release squad volunteers.
- Bug scrubs: none scheduled yet.
- Core Trac:
  - 26 commits (+8 from previous week)
  - 50 open tickets:
    - 28 defects / bugs
    - 13 enhancements, 2 feature requests, and 7 blessed tasks
  - 5 early tickets (+5 from previous week)
- Gutenberg:
  - Gutenberg’s wp/6.6 branch has not yet been created.
  - Editor tasks board has not yet been created.
