• 2024 Team Rep nominations: still no accepted or new nominations. Next steps:
  • Extended deadline (2nd time) to Jan 31st.
  • Considering suggestion (from DevChat) for Abha and I to remain in the roles.
  • Reached out in team-reps channel for other suggestions.
• DevChat meeting held on Jan 10th:
  • The agenda with post highlights and updates from next releases and GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/.

Code Overview

• CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. (TracTrac Trac is the place where contributors create issues for bugs or feature requests much like GitHub.https://core.trac.wordpress.org/. and svn):
  • 39 commits (+28 from last week).
  • 44 new tickets opened (+10 from last week).
  • 48 tickets closed (-4 from last week).
  • A Week in Core – January 15, 2024:
    • 64 contributors.
    • 8 new contributor.
    • 11 committers.
• Gutenberg:
  • 110 commits to trunk (+4 from last week).
  • 50 new issues opened (-7 from last week).
  • 47 issues closed (+6 from last week).

  • 🏁 17.5.0 RC1 released on Jan 10th.
• 6.4 minor releases:
  • Bug scrubs: none this week.

    • 6 open Trac tickets (-2 from last week).
