# Design team update January 24th

The design team is focusing on 5.4 as work on this release begins. Lots of great
things happened this week including 2 triages and a team meeting.

On Wednesday the [design team met](https://make.wordpress.org/design/2020/01/22/design-meeting-notes-for-january-22-2020/)
at the usual time of 19:00 UTC. Monday and Tuesday saw triages run also in [#design](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/tag/design/).

There is a proposal list of things to [focus on for 5.4](https://make.wordpress.org/design/2020/01/21/the-proposed-design-focus-list-for-5-4-release/).

## Calls for involvement

GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress.
The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing
rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes,
custom HTML etc. [https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/](https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/)
continues to need people to [give feedback](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/labels/Needs%20Design%20Feedback)
and create [designs](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/labels/Needs%20Design).

If you are having a WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences
covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress
community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the
year and share the joy. [Learn more](https://central.wordcamp.org/about/). that
has a design contribution table, please reach out in [#design](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/tag/design/)
so you can be added in future updates.
