This post covers two last meetings: * September 19: [agenda](https://make.wordpress.org/community/2019/09/19/community-team-chat-agenda-thursday-19-september-2019/) and SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform [https://slack.com/](https://slack.com/). The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at [https://make.wordpress.org/chat/](https://make.wordpress.org/chat/) logs for [11:00 UTC](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C037W5S7X/p1568890816019400) and [20:00 UTC](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C037W5S7X/p1568923283090900) * October 3: [agenda](https://make.wordpress.org/community/2019/10/02/community-team-chat-agenda-thursday-3-october-2019/) and Slack logs for [11:00 UTC](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C037W5S7X/p1570100414333700) and [20:00 UTC](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C037W5S7X/p1570132810376900) ## Deputy updates Again as usual Community Team members are busy with helping community organizers around the world. We had a little too long queue on MeetupMeetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through [https://www.meetup.com/](https://www.meetup.com/). A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area. and WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally- organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. [Learn more](https://central.wordcamp.org/about/). applications. The team organized two vetting sprints to shorten the queue and it achieved an empty Meetup queue on the later one! ## Ongoing discussions **[Proposal: Changes to application workflow for better communication](https://make.wordpress.org/community/2019/09/19/proposal-changes-to-application-workflow-for-better-communication/)** There is a proposal about how to communicate better with Meetup and WordCamp applicants. Now their applications can be (unfortunately) without any response or message from the Community team few weeks. Proposal is to create a HelpScout ticket automatically for every application and use HS workflows to send automatic notifications. **[Proposal: Detect dormant Meetup groups and check with them automatically](https://make.wordpress.org/community/2019/09/29/proposal-detect-dormant-meetup-groups-and-check-with-them-automatically/)** Our Meetup program is growing fast. We had 575 active meetup groups in February 2018 and the latest number is 778. Some of those Meetups groups might be inactive or dormant for one reason or another. Community Team would like to help organizers and members of those Meetup groups to go forward and have regular meetups again. Currently we don’t have a very good tools to detect dormant groups and approach those. Proposal suggests automatic check for when the last meet up was held and semiautomatic communication process if that has been over six months ago. ## Additional posts worth highlighting * [Call for participants: Creating A Welcoming And Diverse Space](https://make.wordpress.org/community/2019/09/13/call-for-participants-creating-a-welcoming-and-diverse-space-online-workshop-on-sun-oct-6/) * [WordCamp US 2019 – Community Team Plans](https://make.wordpress.org/community/2019/10/02/wordcamp-us-2019-community-team-plans/) * [WordPress meetup organizer newsletter: September 2019](https://make.wordpress.org/community/2019/09/23/wordpress-meetup-organizer-newsletter-september-2019/) ## Numbers * **General** - **Active deputies**: 28 - **Active WordCamp mentors**: 43 - **HelpScout total conversations**: 2 154 (+15%) - **HelpScout messages received**: 2 356 (+13%) * **Meetups** - **Meetups needing vetting**: 3 - **Meetups in chapter program**: 780 - **Members in meetup groups**: 433 846 - **New Meetups groups in the chapter**: [Varese, Italy](https://www.meetup.com/it-IT/WordPress-Meetup-Varese/), [Hsinchu, Taiwan](https://www.meetup.com/Hsinchu-WordPress-Meetup-Group/), [Bolzano, Italy](https://www.meetup.com/Salerno-WordPress-Meetup/), [Salerno, Italy](https://www.meetup.com/Salerno-WordPress-Meetup/), [Amersfoort, Netherlands](https://www.meetup.com/nl-NL/WordPress-033/), [Birmingham, UK](https://www.meetup.com/BirminghamWordPress/), [Yamagata](https://www.meetup.com/yamagata-wordpress-meetup/) * **WordCamps** - **WordCamps needing vetting**: 11 - **WordCamps in the schedule**: 56 - **WordCamp tickets sold**: 5 763 - **New scheduled WordCamps**: [Salt Lake City, Utah 2019](https://2019.slc.wordcamp.org/), [Auckland 2019](https://2019.auckland.wordcamp.org/), [Chicago IL 2020](https://2020.chicago.wordcamp.org/), [Kolkata, India 2020](https://2020.kolkata.wordcamp.org/), [Harare, Zimbabwe 2019](https://2019.harare.wordcamp.org/), [Puebla 2019](https://2019.puebla.wordcamp.org/), [Marseille, France 2019](https://2019.marseille.wordcamp.org/), [Kyiv 2019](https://2019.kyiv.wordcamp.org/), [Kochi, India 2019](https://2019.kochi.wordcamp.org/) +make.wordpress.org/community [#community-team](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/tag/community-team/) ### Share this: * [ Threads ](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/04/community-team-update-03-10-2019/?share=threads) * [ Mastodon ](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/04/community-team-update-03-10-2019/?share=mastodon) * [ Bluesky ](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/04/community-team-update-03-10-2019/?share=bluesky) * [ X ](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/04/community-team-update-03-10-2019/?share=x) * [ Facebook ](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/04/community-team-update-03-10-2019/?share=facebook) * [ LinkedIn ](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/04/community-team-update-03-10-2019/?share=linkedin) * [Login to Reply](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fmake.wordpress.org%2Fupdates%2F2019%2F10%2F04%2Fcommunity-team-update-03-10-2019%2F%23respond&locale=en_US) ### Leave a Reply 󠀁[Cancel reply](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/04/community-team-update-03-10-2019/?output_format=md#respond)󠁿 You must be [logged in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fmake.wordpress.org%2Fupdates%2F2019%2F10%2F04%2Fcommunity-team-update-03-10-2019%2F&locale=en_US) to post a comment. # Post navigation [← Plugin Review Team Stats – 30 Sept 2019](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/02/plugin-review-team-stats-30-sept-2019/) [Plugin Review Team – 07 Oct 2019 →](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/2019/10/07/plugin-review-team-07-oct-2019/)
