Highlights for the last two weeks:

  • The GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ mobile team started working on the Inserter, Unsupported BlockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience., and the Toolbar.
  • iOS: There’s better image handling in the editor. Whether you drag-and-drop a file or add one with the media picker, uploading and inserting is smooth and fast.
  • Android: Everyone loves a GIF! Animated GIFs are now supported throughout the app, and we sped up their load times so you never have to wait to see that cat fall off the table.
  • Android: Nobody likes blank screens with no instructions! If you navigate any page that has no content — for example, you go to the posts screen but you don’t have any posts — we’ll suggest some next steps.
