Marketing Team Update – March 28, 2018

Our vision for the Marketing Team is to be the go-to resource on strategy and content for other WordPress teams  — that means you. We reiterate our mission each week so that everyone who is new to the team understands what our goals are. This helps with onboarding.

We use our weekly slackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at meeting to focus on updates to the tasks that currently exist in Trello. However, we encourage teams to work together when they can.

Thank you David Skarjune

Our friend and partner in the Marketing Team is going on a sabbatical. Thank you @skarjune for all that you’ve done for the Open SourceOpen Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. Open Source **must be** delivered via a licensing model, see GPL. Community, WordPress, Make WordPress, and the Marketing Team. We wish you all the best.

He especially got us going on our Handbook, which is in its MVP state but it would have happened without David.

Growth and Onboarding

We’re growing in passion, numbers, and tasks. It’s an honor to be part of a kind, yet fast-moving team.

If you’re thinking of participating in the Marketing team at WCEU’s Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus., we’d love to have you. Myself, @mcdwayne@jenblogs4u, and @yvettesonneveld will be there.

We are also working on a 1 Page PDF for Contributor Day onboarding; we were waiting for feedback on our edits to the Handbook for Contributor Day but may proceed regardless.

As always, if you have a task request please pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” either me (@gidgey on Slack) or @mcdwayne. We’ll set up a TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the team uses for example: card and get to work.

Our meeting notes are here.

We have a lot going on our Trello Board. We’re lucky to have so many amazing people who want to help.
