# Design team weekly update October 7th

The design team are now posting individual [updates each week](https://make.wordpress.org/design/tag/weeky-updates/),
this post is a summary of the updates from there. If any other teams have design
they need help with, please also let us know. You can either add as a comment to
the post on make/design, add a comment here, or you can ask directly in [#design](https://make.wordpress.org/updates/tag/design/)

### Worked on/released this week:

 * Shipping 4.9 BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large
group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through
alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function
to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process.

### Currently working on:

 * GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress.
The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making
writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than
   shortcodes, custom HTML etc. [https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/](https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/)
   all the things: [@karmatosed](https://profiles.wordpress.org/karmatosed/)
 * Triaging, testing, and providing feedback for Beta 2: [@melchoyce](https://profiles.wordpress.org/melchoyce/)
