Support Team Update for December 5th, 2013

Support items discussed on Thursday’s #wordpress-sfd meetupMeetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area.. I was unavailable so Mika posted these items in the chat.

Test WordPress 3.8 RC1! (Really, it’s getting late.)

If you haven’t begun to do so already then please install WordPress 3.8 RC1. Then visit the alpha/beta sub-forum and help create tickets and mark posts resolved if there is a ticket already for that issue.

If there is a ticket then that post gets marked as “resolved” (a link to the ticket helps) and move on to the next topic. If it’s not a bug but more like a feature request then please resolved that too and let the poster know it’s too late for new features in 3.8.

Theme uploader attack

There is an ongoing attack against some themes that use it’s own bundled uploader. The security write-ups can be found here and here.

Except for informing impacted users that a) sorry that happened to you and b) delete that theme and all of it’s files pronto and pick another theme there really isn’t much to do for those users.
