What’s New

  • iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads.: The new iOS 7 app is out with a clean new look inspired by MP6.
  • iOS: some serious bugs arose with the iOS 7 release and we’ve been working on bug fixes since.
  • iOS: theme switching for WordPress.comWordPress.com An online implementation of WordPress code that lets you immediately access a new WordPress environment to publish your content. WordPress.com is a private company owned by Automattic that hosts the largest multisite in the world. This is arguably the best place to start blogging if you have never touched WordPress before. https://wordpress.com/ blogs is getting closer, will be picked up after bugs are cleared.
  • Android: the betaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. hit a snag or two with Stats, so it’ll run for another week or so.
  • Android: the new native WordPress.com reader and the new NUX were merged.

What’s Next

  • iOS: issue 3.8.2 to fix publishing issues, otherwise only monitor.
  • Android: monitor existing beta.

Note: since the vast majority of the contributors on the iOS and Android projects will be out for the next 7-8 days or so, the apps will only be monitored and not actively developed unless severe issues arise. The next weekly dev chat will be held as usual on Monday at 16:00 UTC but it’ll be more of a casual thing.
