Events Team Update for 5/30/2013

Past month:

  • Started sending out Docusign emails for WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. organizer signatures; this is working well so far. 🙂
  • Many, many, many vendor and sponsorship payments for WordCamps in April/May/June
  • Worked with the 24 WordCamps in planning and 19 WordCamps in pre-planning
  • Approved for pre-planning: Grand Rapids, Kenya, Cape Town, Nepal, Porto, Malaga, Orlando, Providence, Sofia, Vegas, and Lithuania
  • Published the dates for WordCamps Boston, Grand Rapids, Porto Alegre, Birmingham, Baltimore, and Russia
  • Published 87 WordCamp videos
  • Got approval on the Organizer Mentorship program
  • Accepted another Multi-Event Sponsor – WPML – and fielded inquiries from three more
  • Began training Cami Gebhardt, a new Automattic employee who will be helping at WordCamp CentralWordCamp Central Website for all WordCamp activities globally. includes a list of upcoming and past camp with links to each., largely with handling financial coordination for WordCamps running the money through the Foundation

Coming week:

  • Reconnoiter with events groups that have fallen quiet
  • Conspire with @jenmylo on uniting /events and /community while we’re in SF for adacamp
  • Select and train some people to help answer WordCamp applications
  • Launch the mentorship program
