As a result, there is a new link appearing under WordPress News in the admin panel (blog.wordpress.tv). This post is a summary of recent videos published on WordPressTV with a selection of a few of those videos published.

Post-production for videos is taking shape. The first videos with the slides cut-in by WPTV post-production where published this week.

Framing a video to capture the presenter and also get a clear shot of the slides can be a big problem. What tends to happen is the video does not capture either very well. This is distracting and often makes the video difficult to watch and a WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. But if the video concentrates on the presenter then the slides can be added later and having the slides appear in the video makes for a better viewing experience.

This is a simple editing process and can be done by anyone with basic editing skills and it can be taught to anyone that wants to learn some basic editing.

In the past any videos submitted to WordPressTV would be reviewed by a moderator and then scheduled to be published. And to not overwhelm anyone’s feeds, there were 3 or 4 videos scheduled to be published a day. This process along with the time it can take a WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. to edit and submit videos meant that a presentation can be weeks even months old before it was published on WordPressTV.

That has now changed – there is no more scheduling videos for future publication. As soon as a video has gone through the moderation process it is published. And since WordCamp videos tend to come in batches this will shorten the time from submission to publication which means fresher current content.

Having all the information filled in on the submit form, especially the description and links to slides, will now greatly shorten the time from “Submit to Publish” for WordCamp videos.

One of the tags we use to moderate videos is LOGO IN VIDEO. This covers a wide range of issues from having a company logo on the presentation slides to having watermarks, lower-thirds, intros or outros, etc inserted in a video and even the placement of sponsor placards in the videos.

Typically watermarks, lower-thirds, intros, outros, etc are used to show ownership of a video or they are used as an advertisement for a product or service, and are really not appropriate for WPTV videos. The exception begin when these are used for information about the presentation itself. Sponsor’s logos or logos on presentation slides should not be a prominent (distracting) part of the video shot or the slides.

Keeping this in mind will help avoid a video being delayed for editing or simply not being published at all.

This week has been a week of many changes for the WPTV mod squad. We moved from our little cottage in the backyard to the main house on the hill.

By moving to  https://make.wordpress.org/community/category/wordpress-tv/  we are now part of the make.wordpress.org/community.

As with any move it comes with big advantages, like higher community visibility and some issues to work out, the main one being keeping communication open between mods.

Even with the move and all the big changes the mod squad was busy moderating videos and the schedule queue for upcoming videos continues to grow.
