Upload to AWS S3

The standard upload method for submitting a video using the form is really the fastest way to get it online on WordPress.tv. However maybe you have lots of files that are too big or that still need a basic intro added, so a bulk upload might be more appropriate. In that case our AWS S3 space could be the answer.

Option 1: Use the browser

Sign in

The sign in url is https://wordpresstv.signin.aws.amazon.com/console 
– Account ID or alias : wordpresstv
– IAM user name : wordcampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. – Password: <ask in the wptv channel>
Click Sign In

Create your folder

Option 1: From the console, under ‘Storage’, click ‘S3’, click the ‘wordpresstv’ folder, then click ‘wordcamp-uploads’.

Option 2: replace the current url with https://s3.console.aws.amazon.com/s3/buckets/wordpresstv/wordcamp-uploads/?region=us-east-1&tab=overview

Create your folder like ‘2019-City’ and upload your files here.
Please don’t forget to add in that folder a (link to) a MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. data file as described below!

Option 2: Use an FTP client that can handle Amazon AWS

Known tools

You will need an FTPFTP FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol which is a way of moving computer files from one computer to another via the Internet. You can use software, known as a FTP client, to upload files to a server for a WordPress website. https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients. application that can connect to AWS S3 using (Secret) Access keys. Some known ones are Forklift, Filezilla or WinSCP, but other free ones exists.

Sign In

– File Protocol: Amazon S3
– Host name: s3.amazonaws.com
– Access Key ID and Secret Access Key: <ask in the wptv channel>

Create your folder

You only have access to the folder /wordpresstv/wordcamp-uploads

Create your folder like ‘2019-City’ and upload your files here.
Please don’t forget to add in that folder a (link to) a Meta data file as described below!

Meta data

Add also a file in that folder so the WPTV mods have all the details, including the twitter tag of the wordcamp and of the speakers.

Inform WPTV mods

When all files are uploaded, leave a message in the wptv channel on slackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. so WPTV mods can verify and upload the files to WPTV and YouTube.
