Outreach Program Feedback and Update

FEEDBACK

I received direct feedback from WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Omaha: The tripods are too short, limiting where the cameras can be placed. No way to get audio from audience. Only one SD Card per camera.

From WordCamp Raleigh: The four kits worked well except for two issues:

  1. One of the legs on the tripod in the red kit in the Ella Fitzgerald case doesn’t extend and is stuck.
  2. There was no clip for the lavalier mic in the red kit in the Ella Fitzgerald case so we used a bulldog clip.

Also, we couldn’t get two of the SD cards to work in two of the cameras so we had to go and buy two more. This turned out to be a lack of knowledge about how to format the SD cards for the Canon cameras. One of our attendees had the same camera model and later told us that Canon don’t call it “formatting”, they call it “initializing” and showed us how to initialize the SD cards.

Found on the Community p2 from the WordCamp Vegas 2015 Debrief (https://make.wordpress.org/community/2015/10/07/wordcamp-vegas-2015-debrief/), I found these comments: Did record videos, but audio on day one didn’t come out very well. Microphone batteries had to be changed out every couple of speakers. There’s a lot of feedback due to venue microphones. That being said, the videos should be uploaded to WordPress.tv by end of the month.
