Welcome to the official blog of the TV review team for WordPress.tv

We approve and publish all videos on WordPress.tv as well as help WordCamps with video post-production and captioning and subtitling of published videos.

We use this P2P2 “P2” is the name of the theme the blogs of make.wordpress.org use. When asked to post or view something “on the p2” by a member of the WPTV team, that usually means you’re asked to check https://make.wordpress.org/tv. to post our progress, status reports, and occasional geeky video debates. Use the “Subscribe to Blog via Email” widgetWidget A WordPress Widget is a small block that performs a specific function. You can add these widgets in sidebars also known as widget-ready areas on your web page. WordPress widgets were originally created to provide a simple and easy-to-use way of giving design and structure control of the WordPress theme to the user. to follow along!

Video Editing — You can see what videos we have that need editing in this spreadsheet. No special credentials are needed, just download the raw video file, and use your favorite app to edit.

Subtitles/captions — You can help us extend the reach of of WordPress.tv by adding captions or subtitles to any published video. Just find your favorite video, and follow the steps here to create a caption/translation file and submit for review.

Weekly meetings

We use Slack for real-time communication. As contributors live all over the world, there are discussions happening at all hours of the day. We have weekly team meetings every Thursday at 17:00 UTC, and they are open to the public!

Have you reviewed them already? Maybe we can publish them now and look for the slides (and update) when we get them. Just thinking it might be worth it given there’s quite a few videos that are ready.

Last question, did you update the Naomi C. Bush title so it removes the underscores? 🙂

  Yes, they are all reviewed and only needing the slides. There are 24 in the schedule queue now so there’s no be rush. I sent messages to several but so far not much response.

  The old stance was pretty much that if there’s other videos in the queue to publish, we’d hold off on those that don’t have slides. If we’re getting thin on things to publish, I say go for it, but otherwise, might as well publish the things that have slides first.

    I can understand that. Just not sure why we wouldn’t want the videos out. Some of them sound like pretty interesting talks. As someone that watches the videos frequently on WPTV, I don’t always look for the slides. If I need them, I might go hunt around, but a lot of times, I just want the content. Seems like us holding back great content is counterproductive to getting videos out.

    Also, just pointing it out there, the mod manual doesn’t specifically say a video can’t be published without the slides, it does say whenever possible, but that’s it. I actually published one without the slides, sent a message to the presenter and updated the video a few days later once he sent it to me on Twitter. Not trying to be a dick, just trying to understand the logic. Especially when your quoting an old stance that’s not documented anywhere.

      I absolutely understand, just mentioning what we typically did in the past. Depending on the presentation, you’re right in that they’re not always needed. I would say that if the camera doesn’t adequately show the slides and they necessary to truly understand the talk, then we should hold them. Otherwise, I don’t see a problem with adding them afterwards.
