We approve and publish all videos on WordPress.tv as well as help WordCamps with video post-production and captioning and subtitling of published videos.

We use this P2P2 “P2” is the name of the theme the blogs of make.wordpress.org use. When asked to post or view something “on the p2” by a member of the WPTV team, that usually means you’re asked to check https://make.wordpress.org/tv. to post our progress, status reports, and occasional geeky video debates. Subtitles/captions — You can help us extend the reach of of WordPress.tv by adding captions or subtitles to any published video. Just find your favorite video, and follow the steps here to create a caption/translation file and submit for review.

Weekly meetings

We use Slack for real-time communication. As contributors live all over the world, there are discussions happening at all hours of the day. We have weekly team meetings every Thursday at 17:00 UTC, and they are open to the public!

Sharing video ideas.

I’ve uploaded several screencasts over the last week, or so, and plan to upload more. I know there are others working on some additional videos also.
If you have plans for making videos then maybe we can share our ideas here so we wouldnt duplicated our efforts.
We can also discuss techniques and information about videos, screencasting and audio.
I’ve used Camtasia (Windows version) since version 2.5 and do all my videos with this program. And I use Audacity for audio editing.

The target audience for videos I’m working on is the absolute WordPress beginner. Someone who just started or is considering using WordPress. I plan to do a video for each of the admin screens (about 33 in all) giving an overview of that screen, not necessarily a how-to but more of a “this is what this screen does”. I am uploading any videos where the admin screen will not change with WP3.6 and I will be screencasting the others for WP3.6

Some of the others ideas I had are:
PluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party videos (I’ve done one on the Displays Widgets plugin)

I’ve been liking your videos a lot Michael, so please keep it up!
- I use Screenflow for Mac to do my videos, and Adobe Soundbooth for my audio. I also use a cheapie Blue Snowball mic, but still need to build a better home studio space.
- I’ve already uploaded a video for menus in 3.6 (for when it’s launched) and probably will do a few videos around using the media uploader and working with media in pages/posts.
- I was also considering setup videos for each of the Jetpack modules, but that is a lower priority.
- I love the video setup and meetups/camps videos. That would be a HUGE help to WC orgs and also would improve the quality of submissions I think. Someone please do this!
One thing I haven’t heard, but would be totally fair game, is videos for themes and plugins. Premium themes/plugins are OK so long as they are GPLGPL GPL is an acronym for GNU Public License. It is the standard license WordPress uses for Open Source licensing https://wordpress.org/about/license/. The GPL is a ‘copyleft’ license https://www.gnu.org/licenses/copyleft.en.html. This means that derivative work can only be distributed under the same license terms. This is in distinction to permissive free software licenses, of which the BSD license and the MIT License are widely used examples. compliant. Who feels like doing a video on Gravity Forms or Genesis? 🙂

  There are some great themes and plugins that are free and that offer free support that rivals (better in some cases) than the premium ones.
  
  Also, when I locate the camera that was (maybe) donated to the Atlanta meetups, I am going to put something together for camera setup. So far no response on were it may be.
