Meetup Notes – 01/30/2013

Thanks to everyone that was able to attend our first official IRC meetupMeetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area.; it was great to have some new volunteers in the room, and we look forward to your contributions to the group. Here’s a recap of what was discussed:

  • Our basic processes: Refer to the Video Moderator Manual for a quick outline. Note: This doc will grow over time. If you have a suggestion please add it in the comments. 🙂
  • Office Hours: We’ve set a standing IRC chat as “office hours” that will happen every Wednesday from 16:00-19:00 UTC. Office hours not really meant to be organized meetings (though welcomed) but a time when at least one mod can be counted on to be available to the community.
  • Helping WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Organizers: Converting and editing videos can be a pretty difficult process, and not one that is in most organizer’s sweet spot. We talked about examining the process more closely, and the need for an updated version of the current process instructions. Anyone with video experience is encouraged to help!
