Lesson structure

Lesson videos on Learn.WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ can be consumed in one of two ways:

  1. As part of a course or Learning Pathway on Learn.WordPress.org
  2. As either stand-alone videos or part of a playlist on the WordPress YouTube channel

For this reason, it’s a good idea that Lesson videos follow the following guidelines:

  1. Each Lesson should have a title card that introduces the lesson content
  2. Each Lesson should have at least one learning outcome.
    1. If the Lesson is an introduction to a specific topic, try to find at least one learning outcome to achieve in that lesson.
  3. At the start of each Lesson you should briefly outline what the learning outcome is for the Lesson
    1. This can be as simple as a single sentence, for example: “In this Lesson, you will be learning how to publish WordPress posts”.
    2. You may use more detailed learning outcomes, for example: “In this Lesson, you will learn what WordPress posts are, how to create posts, and how to publish them”.
    3. Try to vary the learning outcome(s). For example, don’t start every Lesson with “In this Lesson you will learn…”
  4. It should be possible to learn the specific outcome from the Lesson
    1. You can mention or refer to other Lessons, but the learning outcome for a Lesson should be achievable from just the Lesson itself.
