How to create the Training Team Update

Purpose

The Training Team uses these updates to report on how the team is doing with its different projects to the WordPress community. The updates are published in the Make WordPress Team Updates. Example Update

Responsibility

The team reps are responsible for creating the update
post on a rotating schedule.

Timeline 

  • Create at the end of each month.
  • Publish by the 5th of the next month.

Process

  • As a team repTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts. you will have access to the Team Updates dashboard.
  • Open Dashboard>Posts
  • Click on plus (+) in uppper left toolbar.
  • Click on Patterns.
  • Search Training team updates.
  • Click on the pattern to add to the post.

Adding information

Go through each line and update text to current information. 

  • Update title: Training Team Update- {MONTH} {YEAR}
  • Add link: Add the link to the top paragraph in the pattern for the Learn WordPress Newsletter.

Content Creation on Learn WordPress section

  • Update current project
    • Write an overview of the project with links to posts with project information. 
  • Other Projects and News
    • A list of projects and news with a short overview of each with links to any documentation. 
  • Learn GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription.     Post settings

     Open the right side settings bar to set the settings for the post.

  • Categories
    • Check on Status Update
  • Tags
    • Add ‘LearnWP’ and ‘training’ tags.

Publish

  • Click Publish. 
  • Share link in training team weekly global meeting.
