Looking for feedback
The Training Team shared several opportunities for feedback and participation:
- Office Hours: An Office Hours session is planned for August 22, 2026, focusing on “Note-taking and Publication Workflow: Who Does What, and How?” More details are available here: https://github.com/WordPress/Learn/issues/3570
- GitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. https://github.com/ Triage: The team is considering establishing a regular GitHub triage meeting, although the plan has not yet been finalized. The proposed schedule is biweekly on Thursdays at 07:00 UTC. Contributors interested in joining the potential Slack meeting are encouraged to share their interest.
- Training Team Handbook Updates: The team is continuing to update the Training Team handbooks and welcomes further suggestions, improvements, and ideas from contributors.
The team also expressed appreciation to everyone who has contributed feedback so far.
Looking for volunteers
- The Training Team is seeking volunteers to identify content that needs to be updated or consolidated. Two volunteer groups are being planned: one to review the Training Team handbook content and another to review course materials. Contributors are encouraged to state their area of interest so the team can organize the work and assign relevant tasks.
- Volunteer Interest:
- @softglaze expressed interest in joining the handbook review group, noting previous contributions during the 7.1 cycle, experience with handbook-related work, and availability of approximately 10 hours per week. They are also willing to help validate Good First Issues with “Feedback” in the title against the handbook guidelines.
- Muhibul Haque suggested that @rjekic could assist with coordinating the volunteer’s involvement.
- The Training Team currently has 552 open GitHub issues and is looking to organize the backlog into smaller categories so contributors can work through them systematically.
- The proposed workflow includes:
- Reviewing issues individually.
- Identifying outdated or irrelevant issues.
- Suggesting appropriate fixes or next steps.
- Adding comments where necessary before closing or updating issues.
- For new contributors, Good First Issue tickets are recommended as a starting point, particularly issues with “Feedback” in the title. Contributors can help verify these issues by following the established handbook guidelines and can work toward earning the Training Team Contributor badge.
- For upcoming sessions, the team plans to further divide open issues into manageable categories and focus on one category The 'category' taxonomy lets you group posts / content together that share a common bond. Categories are pre-defined and broad ranging. at a time. One suggested starting point is [Content] Needs Translation Reviewer. Based on feedback from the previous meeting, @rfluethi suggested prioritizing issues in the Bug category, as these are considered both high priority and relatively straightforward to address.
- The Training Team is seeking community input on which category of GitHub issues would be the easiest and most useful to review first. The available categories include:
- Contributors are encouraged to suggest which category should be prioritized. Once a category is selected, the team plans to divide the issues into manageable groups and work through them systematically to help clean up and better organize the repository.
- @softglaze suggested starting the issue review with [Content] Feedback, followed by Awaiting Triage.
- The recommendation was based on the fact that content feedback issues already have a documented validation workflow in the handbook, making them easier for new contributors to handle without requiring significant judgment or technical investigation. This also makes the category easier to divide among a group of contributors.
- Although Bug issues are considered higher priority, they often require reproduction and technical investigation, making them slower and more difficult to distribute across contributors. Awaiting Triage and unlabeled issues contain a significant portion of the 552 open issues and should be reviewed in a later phase, as they require contributors who can determine appropriate labels and next steps.
- @softglaze also offered to review [Content] Needs Translation Reviewer issues in Urdu, drawing on their experience as a translation editor.
Update for last week’s triage squad
- The Training Team is preparing to launch a regular Triage Squad and is inviting contributors who are interested in participating. Contributors can express their interest by commenting or joining the #training channel on WordPress Slack: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C02RW657Q
- @softglaze expressed interest in joining the Triage Squad and confirmed that the proposed biweekly Thursday schedule at 07:00 UTC works for them.

Project updates
- The Training Team is building on the success of the previous Block Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. Theme Development course cohort and is preparing to launch its next cohort focused on Plugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. Development. The new cohort aims to help more students strengthen their WordPress skills and explore opportunities within the open-source ecosystem.
- The team is also working on translating WordPress Credits–related content into multiple languages, helping make the program more accessible to a broader international audience.

Open Discussions
- During the Open Discussions segment, contributors were invited to raise any topics they wanted to discuss by commenting on the meeting issue. No new discussion topics were raised during the session.
- Contributors were encouraged to continue any asynchronous discussions in the thread. The meeting then concluded with thanks to everyone who participated and an invitation to reconvene at the following week’s meeting.
