Dev-squad GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ triage: Biweekly on Thursdays 07:00 UTC

A handful of folks who regularly contribute to the Training Team attended the recent Community Summit. Anyone can read the official notes from each session on https://make.wordpress.org/summit/. With almost 30 sessions that took place, though, there is a lot of information to consume there.

Training Team reps discussed how it would be great if those who attended the Community Summit could share their observations and learnings that pertain specifically to the Training Team with the team. The goal is to highlight important information to Training Team members who were not at the summit, and may also not have the time to read through the different notes.

[ Crowdsourcing curriculums on Learn ]

On multiple occasions, I heard of different contributors sharing their stories of creating and utilizing original curriculum. This ranged from those targeted at elementary children to college students. It seemed folks were potentially recreating similar resources, not knowing others had already done similar things.
- Idea: Could Learn.WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ become a hub were folks shared their curriculum with others? This wouldn’t necessarily be limited to the lesson plan content type… Maybe Learn.WordPress.org could provide a space for folks to share their success stories?
[ Other teams are noticing Training’s onboarding program ]

On multiple occasions, Training’s (and Docs’) onboarding programs were brought up as good examples of new contributor onboarding. That’s great, team! Let’s keep iterating and improving the material we have.

[ Clarification around Make team leadership ]

Desire for a clearer definition of the Team RepTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts. role was brought up in a few sessions. This is an area I think Training could lead by example and create better documentation to clarify the extent of the role.
- Idea: Add documentation to the Training Team handbook about the Training Team’s team rep role. We could also prepare some simple onboarding/offboarding material to assist the role handovers each year.
[ Inspire by sharing wins ]

Whether it be about the WordPress brand itself, contributions to the project, or content on Learn.WordPress.org, the need to inspire others by celebrating wins better came up multiple times. Folks from other products/projects would often share how they’re celebrating wins better than WordPress is, making me realize we should mingle with other projects more to learn from their successes.
- Idea: Share inspiring stories about successful education, such as with kids, in the Learn WordPress newsletter.
- Idea: Find ways to celebrate otherwise-unseen wins in the Training Team more. Such as:
  - A 6-monthly post on what the Faculty program achieved during that time.
  - Consistently send props to meeting note takers.
  - Highlight notable contributions by contributors in the weekly meeting.
  - Create a space for folks to share their wins with the team.
- Idea: Find a consistent way to attribute folks’ contribution to content development and localization, either in the content itself or on their .org profile.
  - Note: the more we can automate this, the less bias would exist.
- Idea: Find a way to better showcase content that learners have completed – and make sure they’re aware of where they can find this.
