Video conferencing options for Online Workshops

It’s great to see how many Online Workshops are being scheduled! With that, we are finding that more needs are arising for video conferencing options. While the Training Team has been sharing a single account in the past, this is not sustainable for the team’s growing needs, so I thought I’d share some options that are available to you.

Online Workshop facilitators are encouraged to use their own video conferencing software. If you do not have one available, your options are:

  1. You are encouraged find a tool that works best for you. The Community Team has an excellent resource on Free Virtual Event Hosting Tools in which they’ve done the research for you!
  2. You can request the use of a Community Zoom Pro account. It’s recommended that you request this before the event is scheduled on Meetup.com, so the link can be provided when attendees RSVP.
  3. You can request use of the Training Team’s shared account by reaching out in the #training channel in SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/., so a Faculty member can assist you with scheduling. Again, note that it’s recommended that you make this request well in advance of your event, so you can ensure that the account is available.

If you have any more video conferencing ideas to share for Online Workshop facilitators, please feel free to share in the comments!
