# Brainstorm – WordCamp Asia 2023 Contributor Day

It’s now less than a month to [Contributor Day at WordCamp Asia 2023](https://asia.wordcamp.org/2023/contributor-day/)!
In preparation for the day, we’d like to invite you to share your ideas of what
contributors at the Training Team table can get involved with on that day.

Below are some ideas to kick-start discussions. Feel free to comment on this post
with your ideas, too!

This brainstorming** is open until February 8th (Wednesday).**

Team reps and table leads will consider all ideas and publish a post with a final
plan by February ~10th~ 13th.

## Experienced Contributors

 * Review `Ready for Review` content
 * 6.1 Content Creation/Updates
 * 6.2 Content Creation
 * Translate resources as part of the [Localization Foundation project](https://make.wordpress.org/training/2022/11/07/project-thread-content-localization-foundations/)

_Idea: We can label issues for contributors to work on with `wcasia 2023` or similar
before the event starts. This will allow us to create a dedicated view in GitHubGitHub
GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can
easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are
free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced
the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors
can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. [https://github.com/](https://github.com/)
to highlight issues for this event._

## New Contributors

    - _We can share team values, goals and projects as part of this_
 * Review online courses and submit feedback
 * [Review published content](https://make.wordpress.org/training/handbook/guidelines-for-reviewing-content-on-learn/)
   and submit error report
    - _Spelling mistakes_
    - _Outdated content_
    - _Something is not clear and needs improvement_
    - _Screenshot/images missing_

         - I think it’ll be really important for Marketing team to get up to speed
           with the entire Needs Analysis idea, beyond the Individual Learner Survey.
           This will involve more outreach and be an area marketing team may wish to
           collaborate further upon.

 7. I would really like to see a deliberate remote element brought into this year’s
     contributor dayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently
     held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are
     events where people get together to work on various areas of [https://make.wordpress.org/](https://make.wordpress.org/)
     There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus.
     [https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/](https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/).
     Not everyone can attend in person, but how cool would it be if there were a way
     those of us not in attendance could run a few Zoom sessions and/or work together
     collaboratively across the globe during this day?
 8. An example of this that I really appreciated was when the [Training team remotely hosted a WPTranslationDay event](https://make.wordpress.org/training/2021/09/30/wptranslationday-subtitling-videos-on-learn/).
     There was a brief “How To” session a la Zoom, and people who were contributing
     could join and subtitle videos. This is also how we subtitled all the previously
     existing videos on Learn that were not prior to Fall, 2021– a synchronous learning
     session followed by members from all over the world adding subtitles to all our
     videos.
 9.  **We would need…**
      -a volunteer to run a Zoom session (probably in that timezone
     or I’d volunteer), -a topic (or two!) to teach/train people on synchronously -
     maybe a way to sign up (Meetup.com would offer this option) ahead of time and
     spread the word (another place Marketing could get involved!) -a way to follow
     up on any unfinished business such as in a P2P2 P2 or O2 is the term people use
     to refer to the Make WordPress blog. It can be found at [https://make.wordpress.org](https://make.wordpress.org/)
     post (say if, for example, someone wanted to write a lesson plan or a script for
     a video tutorial or something–Courtney Robertson has pointed out that historically,
     writing content on contributor day hasn’t yielded strong results)
 10. Just some thoughts!
