# WordCamp Europe 2022 Contributor Day

## Training Team Mission

The WordPress training team [helps people learn](https://make.wordpress.org/training/2021/08/08/who-can-learn-help/)
to use, extend, and contribute to WordPress through synchronous and asynchronous
learning as well as downloadable lesson plans for instructors to use in live environments,
via [learn.wordpress.org](https://learn.wordpress.org/).

### Our team uses GithubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. 󠀁[https://github.com/](https://github.com/)󠁿 for project management.

   [.](https://github.com/wptrainingteam)
 * We do our actual content creation on[ Learn.WordPress.org](https://Learn.WordPress.org)
   itself and do not use pull requests for content.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in, comment on posts, and participate
in meetings and on projects.

## How you can contribute today

There are several ways that you can contribute to the team today.

### Marketing team collaboration request

 * Continued work on crafting social media messaging to promote new content on LearnWP

### Docs team collaboration request

 * Idea: visible change log at the bottom of pages that is automated
 * Discuss what needs to happen before Docs starts to link at Learn materials (Lesson
   plans and workshops merge) to prevent many broken links.

### LearnWP Needs Analysis

 * [Rough draft of a Needs Analysis](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vzecgewjvtu--jNXTywwA7cshN4Sstjfa-KgzZpYiEM/edit?usp=sharing)(
   this will be editable during WCEU)
    - This connects to the WordPress certification goal
    - What is the goal of this Needs Analysis doc? See [Needs Analysis examples](https://monday.com/blog/project-management/needs-analysis/)
 * Overhaul Submit Idea form
    - We’d like ideas for topics to go into GitHub, and the team is working on having
      a matching lesson plan for each workshop. [Submit a topic (GitHub issue)](https://github.com/WordPress/Learn/issues/new/choose)
    - People will still apply to host workshops or Social Learning Spaces. These
      will go to a team Helpscout email and the [Faculty team](https://make.wordpress.org/training/handbook/faculty-program/)
      will vet the applicants.

### Submit a topic to GitHub Issues – Social Learning Space

 * Host a Social Learning Space about how the Training team uses GitHub
    - Training around how to submit an issue or topic idea in GitHub
    - Showing folks how to read our project board
 * Discuss in person at WCEU on how to apply and host a Social Learning Space
