WordCamp US is approaching and will be in Nashville in early December, with a contributor dayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. on the Sunday, December 3rd. Since this will be an opportunity for many contributors of the training team to meet in person we want to make sure we’re gathering a list of all of the items we’d like to address as a team beforehand to make the most efficient use of our time together. That said, for those who are not able to make it in person, we will work as a team to make sure that you are updated and able to participate as much as possible in what we’re working on this day.

We’ll chat about this subject over the next few weeks in team meetings and will use this post as a place to store our thoughts and asynchronously share our ideas.

I am happy beyond the point of rationality about this. I haven’t seen one single WordPress person since I moved to Front Royal, and I’ve realized how much being around such a good group of people feeds my soul.

Will the process planning be done by then, or are we going to be hashing out the final details of the overhaul of how we do things? Not being a process kind-of-guy (anymore) I’d be happy with a partial day of discussions and the rest to dig into content.

  I don’t think the process planning will be done by then. BUT I do think that it’s totally reasonable for the team to work on multiple things that day. I would personally like to see process planning as one of the focuses, but we’ll also need more content-related things that folks new to the team can dig in to with the guidance of folks who are more familiar with everything.

• Audit existing plans for WordPress 4.9 (and, really, 4.8 as well based on summer 2017 release date)
• Are there any plans out there that still need copy editing? I know we put that on hold, but if there’s anything that needs any editing or polishing, we should make a list.
• We haven’t created a ton of new lesson plans (I don’t think) in 2017. I think we should take a hard look at WordPress 4.8 and 4.9 and see if there are any new features that need to be addressed in the “WordPress 101 Track” and have those plans available for folks to write during Contributor Day.

Would anyone like to volunteer to review the features added in WordPress 4.8 and 4.9 and create such a list of any needed lesson plans? This is a task that could be completed prior to WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. US so that we have it ready to go.
