Themes team meeting agenda for May 24, 2022

This is the themes team biweekly team meeting agenda.

The themes team conducts a meeting on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. This month second meeting is on 24th of May.

The meeting takes place in the #themereview channel on the WordPress SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. and you need an account to participate.

2. WordCamp Europe – Contribute in Themes Team

If you have not decided which team you want to join and contribute, then themes team is fully prepared to welcome you. One of our themes team representative(@kafleg) will be joining virtually to guide you. Some of the former representatives of themes team will be there physically. If you want to meet them, comment below. We’ll help to connect with them.

By joining themes team, you’ll get idea about,

  • How to submit themes, how themes trac works, how to review themes, etc.
  • You’ll get idea about WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ themes requirement guidelines.
  • We’ll share some idea about blockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. based themes(FSEFSE Short for Full Site Editing, a project for the Gutenberg plugin and the editor where a full page layout is created using only blocks. themes).
  • Themes team will listen your ideas on how to make themes repository even better.

3. WordPress 6.0 release

The final release is scheduled for today 24th May 2022. The theme authors are strongly encouraged to test the themes.

The theme handbook is being updated to reflect the WordPress 6.0 update. Big thanks to @peona


4. Open floor

We will discuss everything related to themes. Attendees can ask or share themes-related things.
