After giving people additional time to discuss the suggestion, it was decided to move forward with allowing themes to use a top-level menu item in the admin area.

WordPress 5.5 theme changes

Do you have any questions about theme-related changes in 5.5 or a change you would like to discuss?

Has the information about the changes been helpful, or how can the information and reach be improved?

Suggesting theme related core tickets for 5.6

A call for tickets to focus on for 5.6 has been posted. Component Maintainers have been asked:

What tickets of yours do you think will be ready to ship in 5.6 and need some review/feedback/approval/etc?

We have a limited time to suggest tickets. Please consider carefully if you would also be able to contribute to the tickets. Your help would be appreciated.

There are currently 190 Core Trac issues for the theme component: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/component/Themes

Only one ticket is on the 5.6 milestone. There are many ways the team could contribute to triaging these tickets.

Date and time of the next meeting

We hope everyone is well rested after the break and we suggest that the meetings should now continue on the regular schedule. This would mean that the next meeting would be on August 25.

The discussion about the meeting agenda can be held in the comments below. You are encouraged to propose topics.

Meetings usually last around 60 minutes.

Attend and share your valuable feedback and suggestions.
