Welcome to the Themes team!

We are a group of volunteers who review and approve themes submitted to be included in the official WordPress Theme directory.

We do license, security, and code quality reviews.

We help build and maintain default themes.

The primary focus of the team is to help theme authors transition to blockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience.-based themes.

The team maintains the official Theme Review Requirements, the Theme Unit Test Data, and helps the documentation team with the Theme Developer Handbook.

We maintain the WPThemeReview Standard for PHP_CodeSniffer, the Theme Sniffer plugin and Theme Check

We have code packages for themes available for use on Github and Packagist

Designers looking for developers.

As part of the design challenge the following post is being created. Please add your name if you are a designer looking for a developer and have something you want worked on. You can also include your work, no matter what format whether an image or code. It doesn’t even have to be a full design, it could just be a concept.

The idea is during the weekend, probably the end you would add your name here. However, this thread will stay open beyond the event, so if you are looking to pair up with a developer then look no further!

It’s worth noting, any contact you make with each other is up to you. We are just offering this post and the weekend to work with others.

“Lofting” (formerly named “Publish It,” which was a pretty blah name) is a story-focused theme for writers to publish their work online. It’s meant to be a one-off site for your short story or book. It is not always a vertical column on the side. It can be a horizontal rectangle below or above the content area, footer, header, or any where in the theme. contains a reverse-chronological list of all posts (“chapters”). We might want to experiment with ways to truncate or paginate this, depending on the number of posts. Widgets appear on pages, but not on posts or archives.

I did some very preliminary htmlHTML HTML is an acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a markup language that is used in the development of web pages and websites./css, which you can find, along with the .psds, in the zip.

It still needs some design work — a 404 page design, form styling, comment styling, etc. — but I figured I’d put it out there for anyone interested.

Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” me whenever you’re ready to start development.
