iOS app site deletion, iPhone 6+

Testing site deletion with build 6.0.0.20160217ebd5529 on an iPhone 6+.

Some screenshots:

Here is the site after deletion:

Notes:

  • On the delete confirmation screen, I didn’t read any of the text on my first time through. I saw a text input in a delete confirmation and assumed my password was needed. I pasted my password and noticed that it was shown in the clear. Hmm. I noticed also that the delete site button was still disabled.  Hmmm. Finally, I read the text and saw that I was being ask to perform a different kind of AYS gymnastic, typing in the site name.
  • Otherwise, the process was straightforward and worked.
  • Not pictured in the screencast: To test this I created a new site. If you are scrolled down the site list when adding a new site, you won’t see any acknowledgment that the new site was created successfully. You must scroll up to see the new site at the top of the list.

With 4.3-alpha-32949. For #32604.

Being able to visit links from within the editor means no more cut-and-paste. Love it. Seeing the link without having to pop up the modal is also nice.

Install MultisiteMultisite Multisite is a WordPress feature which allows users to create a network of sites on a single WordPress installation. Available since WordPress version 3.0, Multisite is a continuation of WPMU or WordPress Multiuser project. WordPress MultiUser project was discontinued and its features were included into WordPress core.https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network.

Each field auto-capitalizes first letter of input. Should maybe use autocapitalize="off" and autocorrect="off" on the username field. The email field should be type="email".

Having to double tap a user from the auto-suggested list isn’t ideal.

Press This a YouTube video, iPhone 6+

Issues:

  • Tapping Preview often results in the editor focusing and the keyboard flying up rather than preview. Pressing a youtube video and tapping into the editor before previewing is the most reliable way I’ve found to reproduce this.
  • Preview opens in a new window. This is really bad mobile usability that is shared by post-new.php.
  • The publish bar does not persistently remain on the screen. Sometimes it ends up at the end of the big chunk of whitespace that iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads. puts below the editor. A lot of scrolling is required to reach it. This seems to happen in association with the preview bug mentioned above.

Advancing the cursor through input fields on iOS

On iOSiOS The operating system used on iPhones and iPads. devices, I can’t advance the cursor through text that lies beyond the bounds of the Title input. The cursor stops advancing through text once it hits the left or right border of the input field. This causes me to abandon my mobile session and pick up editing when I get to a laptop. Mobile abandonmentMobile abandonment Bugs that terminally block flow on mobile cause mobile abandonment. Users must do a huge context switch from mobile to desktop to resume flow, which usually means postponing an action until the next time a laptop is available.https://make.wordpress.org/test/glossary/#mobile-abandonment of edit flowFlow Flow is the path of screens and interactions taken to accomplish a task. It’s an experience vector. Flow is also a feeling. It’s being unselfconscious and in the zone. Flow is what happens when difficulties are removed and you are freed to pursue an activity without forming intentions. You just do it.

Flow is the actual user experience, in many ways. If you like, you can think of flow as a really comprehensive set of user stories. When you think about user flow, you’re thinking about exactly how a user will perform the tasks allowed by your product.Flow and Context
is not good.

This happens on all my iOS devices. Android looks good. We could use an audit of all input fields for iOS.
