News

• The Sustainable Events Handbook has been translated to Spanish during the WordCamp Pontevedra Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. • We talked about the management of other local sustainability channels now that a sustainability channel has been created on WordPress Spain Slack.
• An invitation to the upcoming Yoast Contribution Day was done.

Looking for feedback

• Some new information was shared about the question “Is WordPress.org using green power?”. In short, it looks like hosting it’s using renewable energy and in the works to be added to the Green Web Foundation directory, so it should display the “green check” in the next weeks.

Economical sustainability

• @yellowlime has reported progress in the search for funding for the WP Sustainability Plugin and its Guidelines.

Environmental Sustainability

• Some updates regarding the creation of the web sustainability guidelines for WordPress were done. You can contribute with your feedback here.
• There were also some updates regarding the sustainability plugin. Since one of the goals of the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress., there were some technical limitations that were blocking the project (mainly trying to avoid 3rd party services calls). Then we could work on removing dependencies (we have an open line with the Green Web Foundation to achieve, at least part of this, in the future).
