Welcome to the home of the WordPress Sustainability Team!

We seek to embed sustainable practices into WordPress to ensure the longevity of the project.

To do so, we focus our efforts on the 3 pillars of sustainability:

Social: Finding ways to increase the diversity and wellbeing of the WordPress community.

Environmental: Reducing energy and waste consumption in the development and usage of the WordPress software and its community activities.

Economical: Finding ways to economically support contributions to the WordPress Project, for those who need it.

Brainstorming and discussing about:

Team RepTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts. nominations. In this meeting we’ll list the nominees and prepare the vote.
Make/Team Dashboards. The proposal for this is in the following post: Request for Feedback: Make/Team Dashboards. The conversation has already started here.
Roles, processes and structure of the team. Continue to develop the way to properly manage the team using GitHub, Slack and P2, mainly. We should take into account the resources provided by @gusa:
EU Open SourceOpen Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. Open Source **must be** delivered via a licensing model, see GPL. Policy. Is this our are of responsibility as the Sustainability Team? Related to the EU Cyberresilency Act, I am participating in SBOMs and drafting white papers with CISA’s working groups around the implications for SaaS. I have raised awareness of WordPress needs, from hosting to pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party/theme ecosystem, customers, and more. https://www.cisa.gov/sbom

  I set up a draft on our Roadmap (GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ project).   That’s very interesting to know. Has the SBOM work had any active discussion of the CRA matter? And in what capacity are you participating in SBOMs?
  
  I haven’t done as much research on this matter as I’d have liked before todays call, but I did search through WP slackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. to try and find references to a discussion. The only notifications were from Josepha and Robin in the #marketing team posted an update (but I’m not certain how close to this he was). I dropped a line to Josepha and RObin this morning letting them know we’re discussing it in the #sustainability team today.
  
  I hope I didnt get ahead of things, but I let them know we’re not saying we _should_ be responsible for this, just exploring whether and how we ought to engage. And we’re open to being told ‘don’t worry, this is all in hand’.

GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ repo was much better suited for working through agenda items, I copied (most) of what was outlined in our Channel canvas to the following issues –
The last one references our Sustainability Roadmap on GitHub, where I went ahead and logged all the ideas from our Roadmap Canvas.

Hopefully that (referencing GitHub issues and projects during the meeting) will help centralize collaboration and make it easier to contribute.
