  1. How can we be more inclusive, diverse and human-centered as a community? How can we attract new members to the community to ensure its continuity and diversity?
  2. What can be done to guarantee the economical longevity of the WordPress project?
  3. How can WordCamps and meetups be organized in a more sustainable way?
  4. Make the WordPress CMS become leading on sustainability.

Important discussions had happened about:

  • the role this team has in social and financial matters.
  • aligning with standards (as UN ones).
  • how to create engagement.
  • visibility through tags.

Sustainability Chat Summary, June 16, 2023

The WordPress Sustainability Chat meeting took place on Friday 16th of June 2023 at 11.00 UTC on the Sustainability channel of Make WordPress Slack.

Agenda

You can check the initial agenda here. We finally discuss about:

  1. An update about what happened at WCEU.
    How we finally became an official team and decided to start to work on the sustainability of the WordPress project as a whole, adding social and financial points of view to the environmental one.
  2. Brainstorm about what to put on the roadmap of our team.
    Now we have redefined the focus of the team, we began to discuss where we need to go from here. We’ve created a Gdoc for working on that: Brainstorm: Roadmap WordPress Sustainability Team
  3. Now we’re an official sustainability team, what’s next.
    We have been talking about what we should do for bringing in more contributors. Also, we decide to open an issue about the profile badges.

The official WordPress Sustainability team has seen daylight during the WCEU Athens Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time.
