{"id":46183,"date":"2016-04-07T17:25:57","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T17:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/?p=46183"},"modified":"2016-04-07T17:25:57","modified_gmt":"2016-04-07T17:25:57","slug":"april-7th-support-team-meeting-summary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/2016\/04\/april-7th-support-team-meeting-summary\/","title":{"rendered":"April 7th Support Team Meeting Summary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>WordPress 4.5 <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>RC<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Release Candidate<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>A beta version of software with the potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless significant bugs emerge.<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2013 How is testing going?<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/news\/2016\/03\/wordpress-4-5-release-candidate\/\">WordPress 4.5 RC 1<\/a> is out, as is <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/2016\/03\/30\/wordpress-4-5-field-guide\/\">the 4.5 Field Guide<\/a>, and so far we haven\u2019t noticed anything consistent or otherwise worth highlighting in our testing.<\/p>\n<p>Please do test the RC when you can. If we can find bugs before 4.5 goes final, we\u2019ll have less threads to deal with after.<\/p>\n<p>Final is still <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/version-4-5-project-schedule\/\">on schedule<\/a> for April 12.<\/p>\n<h3>4.5 OMGWTFBBQ post<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/support\/2016\/04\/4-5-omg-wtf-post\/\">The Draft<\/a> is ready and will go live when 4.5 launches. We\u2019ll be adding (or removing) items as necessary.<\/p>\n<h3>Our \u2018no hosting discussion\u2019 rule \u2013 what is the scale of coverage and why?<\/h3>\n<p>The goal is to discourage discussion about which hosts are best or worse, there are better places for such things, but discussions about the operation of hosting or types of hosting (Shared vs. VPS vs. Dedicated, etc) are generally not a problem.<\/p>\n<p>If you encounter a thread getting uncomfortably specific about the good\/bad of a particular host, please add \u201cmodlook\u201d as a tag to the thread and leave this reply:<\/p>\n<p><code>Per the &lt;a href=\"https:\/\/codex.wordpress.org\/Forum_Welcome#Closing_Posts\"&gt;Forum welcome&lt;\/a&gt;, topics like this are closed due to the amount of spam they attract.<\/code><\/p>\n<p><code>The WordPress team has provided &lt;a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/hosting\/\"&gt;a list of recommended hosting providers&lt;\/a&gt;. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/\">https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/<\/a> or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party.<\/span><\/span><\/span>, thread, etc so that we know to keep an eye on it.
