Weekly Meetings

Ideas (wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org//ideas)
Personally, I view it as a disservice that we encourage ideas in a section that isn’t truly monitored for ideas. (This was when I spotted https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1182 which says there was talk of replacing it, so perhaps @samuelsidler could give an update there if it exists?)

It’s still on the old bbPressbbPress Free, open source software built on top of WordPress for easily creating forums on sites. https://bbpress.org. for starters (that’s not really of any importance in this setting though).

It was a noble idea in it’s day, many many moons ago, but it serves no true purpose at this time.
Jan and Mika are the only ones that look there it seems, I don’t think coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. even knows of it’s existence any more (and if they do, they should provide some form of feedback). And I’m OK with them not knowing/caring for that section, as with most things, the section holds a vocal minority at this point, WP is way too big for this area I think.

It’s basically a place where people can throw their ideas to the wind, so that they may be eaten by the void. (Marius clearly has strong feelings about void spaces)

  We’re still planning on replacing it someday. It’s the last bbPress.old-powered part of the site. We’ll get to it within the next year, likely, but need to hash out what it should look like in the future. It’ll likely be replaced by something like make/suggestions and not built on a forum base at all.
  
  Fwiw, at the very least both lead developers and myself look at it for general feedback and ideas.
