# September 29th Support Team Meeting Summary

## **Announcements**

 * Please consider sharing feedback on [the forum redesign mockups](https://make.wordpress.org/meta/2016/08/19/support-forum-preliminary-mockups/).
 * Please consider sharing feedback on [the new Plugin Guidelines](https://make.wordpress.org/plugins/2016/08/31/reviewing-the-revamped-guidelines/).

## **WordPress 4.6.1**

We have added to [“when enabled, plugin auto-updates can fail if they involve several plugins in a row”](https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/38024)
to [the known issues](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-46-master-list/#post-7671445)
for WordPress [4.6.1](https://wordpress.org/news/2016/09/wordpress-4-6-1-security-and-maintenance-release/).

## **Forum Upgrade Status**

The official ETA is that everything will be done when it’s done.

We have nothing to add to [our list of things that would be nice for Moderators and other volunteers to have](https://make.wordpress.org/support/2016/09/support-forum-upgrade-omgwtfbbq-master-list/)
and [the list of known issues](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/forum-bugs-and-broken-things/)
at this time.

## **WCUS Preliminary Headcount**

[WordCamp US 2016](https://2016.us.wordcamp.org) will be December 2 – 4 with the
Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently
held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events
where people get together to work on various areas of [https://make.wordpress.org/](https://make.wordpress.org/)
There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus.
[https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/](https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/)
on December 4. We’re collecting a headcount of those who plan to attend the Support
section of Contributor Day, so we have a reasonable expectation of how many existing
support volunteers will be available to help new support volunteers.

During the meeting, 7 support volunteers confirmed they’d be there. If you were
not in the meeting, but do plan to attend the Support section of Contributor Day,
please do let us know in the comments below by Monday, October 3. (If you’re unsure,
we look forward to you being there if you can, but you don’t have to let us know.
We’ll plan for more than those who have confirmed for sure.)

## **Abandoned Not-English Forums**

It has come to our attention that a few not-English forums have been abandoned by
their Keymasters and Moderators. Several ideas were shared, all with merit, so the
decision was to approach each case individually and form a policy later based on
what has worked best overall.

For now, [@kenshino](https://profiles.wordpress.org/kenshino/) will be reaching
out to top volunteers in the forums in question to establish new Keymasters and
Moderators, and we’ll discuss how that went and if any changes to the plan are necessary
next week.

## **Moderation Enhancements**

We’d like to contribute some moderation enhancements back to [bbPress](https://bbpress.org),
rather than just build a pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing
a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality
or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in
the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can
be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory [https://wordpress.org/plugins/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/)
or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party., so please think about what you’d
like to see in bbPressbbPress Free, open source software built on top of WordPress
for easily creating forums on sites. [https://bbpress.org](https://bbpress.org)
for moderation (could be mockups, screenshots of other moderation interfaces, or
even just words). A master post will be published here by [@jdembowski](https://profiles.wordpress.org/jdembowski/)
this weekend to further coordinate our efforts.

Additionally, [@clorith](https://profiles.wordpress.org/clorith/) has volunteered
to put together a work group this weekend in [#forums](https://wordpress.slack.com/messages/forums/)
on SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform [https://slack.com/](https://slack.com/).
The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at [https://make.wordpress.org/chat/](https://make.wordpress.org/chat/)
for direct brainstorming and possibly even development. If you’re interested, please
DM him to coordinate.

## **Checkin with International Support Liaisons**

 * The [Russian](https://ru.wordpress.org/support/) support community is doing well,
and working on forum fixes and enhancements.
 * The [Italian](https://it.wordpress.org/forums/) support community is now 80%
   done with [their translated handbook](https://it.wordpress.org/forums/handbook/).
