June 9th Support Team Meeting Summary

WordPress 4.5.2 (and 4.5.3?)

Nothing new came up for the current release of WordPress, but 4.5.3 is on the horizon.

Support Contributor Badge Term Limit

The Support Contributor Badge is defined in the Handbook as “You have shown an outstanding commitment to WordPress support and the WordPress Community in general.”

After a lengthy discussion, we have agreed that the badge should never expire due to just inactivity, but that it can be revoked if the user in question has done anything notable to deserve the loss of the title. That decision can of course be appealed by simply earning the badge again.

Pre-defined Reply for Account Deletion Requests

After a very lengthy discussion, we reached a decision for handling account deletion requests. Now noted in the Pre-defined Replies, please tag the topic as “modlook” in case it requires additional attention from a moderator, and reply with the following:

At this time, accounts cannot be deleted at WordPress.org, it is currently a technical impossibility. You can edit your profile to remove all info, and we can even block your account if you want us to, but we cannot delete the account.

Please do not mention any laws or legalities, regardless of country, please leave that to legal professionals.
