March 31st Support Team Meeting Summary

WordPress 4.5 RCRelease Candidate A beta version of software with the potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless significant bugs emerge.

WordPress 4.5 RC 1 is out, as is the 4.5 Field Guide, and so far we haven’t noticed anything consistent or otherwise worth highlighting in our testing.

Please do test the RC when you can. If we can find bugs before 4.5 goes final, we’ll have less threads to deal with after.

Image Auto-Embeds in Forums

The Team voted unanimously to begin researching the possibility of providing image auto-embeds in the forums (leave a URLURL A specific web address of a website or web page on the Internet, such as a website’s URL www.wordpress.org to an image on a trusted source, and it embeds automatically).

@otto42 has begun development. We’ll launch with the sources he’s comfortable with when he’s ready to, then discuss the addition of other sources at a later meeting.

PluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party Update Email

The “Please update your plugins” email went out to developers last night. If for any reason you run into people confused about it, please tell them to either update their plugins or press REPLY on the email and tell the Plugins Team which ones they want them to close. The Plugins Team is currently aware of some slowness in the update process.
