March 17th Support Team Meeting Summary

WordPress 4.5 BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 4

WordPress 4.5 Beta 4 is out, and so far we haven’t noticed anything consistent or otherwise worth highlighting in our testing.

Please do test the beta when you can. If we can find bugs before 4.5 goes final, we’ll have less threads to deal with after.

IRC Updates Launched

We have a new reporting tool, which notifies us in #forums on SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. when something needs intervention, a guide on moderating IRC, and @kenshino and @jdembowski have been promoted to op to increase coverage when powers are needed.

In most cases, you don’t need an op to intervene, just someone to stop by and say “Stop being a jerk.” The reporting tool includes a link to the log for investigative fun, and looks like this:
