WordPress 4.4-beta2 is out. Please test and otherwise abuse.

As before, when a topic in the alpha/betaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Do not close the topic, just mark it resolved.

Should the support meetup use the @ here option in SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/.?

And the answer is: No.

It wasn’t even close, no one thinks it’s worthwhile in the #forums channel. Using it would needlessly pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” people who are members but remain silent. We want to encourage people to participate and (in this channel at least) using @ here would just be a weekly PING.

Pages help text in IRC

Lindsay suggestion of updating the IRC bot to clarify .pages output similar to this.

To clarify the term “Pages: WordPress pages are those are made in the dashboard under add new page. Site Pages are those exist on the front end of your site but have no page in the admin such as archive pages, the 404, etc.

This is to make “Pages” less ambigous. There was a lot of discussion and the topic was shelved for a pull request with alternative wording.
