What to Expect at the 2023 Community Summit

I have an issue with the current scheduling of the ” Aligning processes and contributions between WordPress CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. and GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/” and “Aligning WordPress enterprise with WordPress community” sessions. By pulling all of the core committers who are most affected by the alignment discussion out of the enterprise discussion, it is essentially saying that the people who are coding what WordPress will be moving forward should not be in the discussion of how WordPress can best work for its biggest sites.

Additionally, at every previous summit, the schedule was formalized by the participants the day of and this gave an opportunity for everyone to raise flags like this. Is there a reason it was decided to not gather feedback in a similar manner this time?

  @jorbin We have some huge topics to address this year, and it is likely that people will want to attend multiple discussions within the same time slot. We built this schedule with input from people who are both coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. committers and work at the enterprise level. That said, the organizing team is open to receiving feedback.
  
  There are a couple reasons why this year’s approach is different than at past Summits:
  - Because of how big these topics are, we want to give participants advance time to prepare, and to maximize time by pre-setting the schedule.
  - When topics are determined on the day-of, the loudest voices are likely to direct the content at the Summit. This approach aims to change that. If this approach doesn’t work, then the next Summit can try something different.
