Per project translation, editors are appointed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/glossary\/#general-translation-editor\">general translation editor<\/a>\u00a0after a <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/handbook\/rosetta\/theme-plugin-directories\/#requesting-new-translation-editors\">request by the project\u00a0author<\/a> or by the contributors themselves.<\/span><\/span><\/span> Request for Prevent Browser Caching (es_AR, es_CL, es_CO, es_EC, es_MX, es_VE, ca)<\/p>\n<p>Hi Polyglots,<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m the author of Prevent Browser Caching:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/prevent-browser-caching\/\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019ve just submitted translations of the <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>plugin<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Plugin<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/\">https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/<\/a> or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019s <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>UI<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>UI<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>UI is an acronym for User Interface - the layout of the page the user interacts with. Think \u2018how are they doing that\u2019 and less about what they are doing.<\/span><\/span><\/span> (all 86 <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>strings<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>String<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings.<\/span><\/span><\/span>) and the current readme as suggestions for seven <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>locales<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Locale<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it\u2019s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/teams\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/teams\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span>, and I\u2019d be grateful if each team could review them. The existing Ukrainian and Spanish (es_ES) translations of this plugin are already approved and live, and I maintain them after every release.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not a native speaker of these locales, so I did not machine-translate. For the Spanish variants I started from the approved es_ES translation and then checked every difference against that <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>locale<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Locale<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it\u2019s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/teams\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/teams\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2019s own conventions as they actually appear in your WordPress <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>core<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>Core<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.<\/span><\/span><\/span> translation and in this plugin\u2019s already-approved strings. Catalan is a fresh translation, not adapted from Spanish. What that meant per locale:<\/p>\n<p>Spanish (Argentina) \u2014 es_AR: voseo throughout (agreg\u00e1, verific\u00e1, hac\u00e9 clic, pod\u00e9s, ten\u00e9s), agregar rather than a\u00f1adir, Predeterminado, \u201d \u201d quotation marks.<br>\nSpanish (Chile) \u2014 es_CL: agregar, Predeterminado, \u201d \u201d quotation marks.<br>\nSpanish (Colombia) \u2014 es_CO: Predeterminado, \u00ab \u00bb quotation marks, existing approved strings reused verbatim.<br>\nSpanish (Ecuador) \u2014 es_EC: your glossary is currently empty, so I followed the es_ES glossary plus your core translation; \u00ab \u00bb quotation marks.<br>\nSpanish (Mexico) \u2014 es_MX: Predeterminado, straight quotation marks (matching your core translation and this plugin\u2019s existing strings).<br>\nSpanish (Venezuela) \u2014 es_VE: \u00ab \u00bb quotation marks, existing approved strings reused verbatim.<br>\nCatalan \u2014 ca: formal plural register (Afegiu, Comproveu, Espereu), mem\u00f2ria cau, extensi\u00f3, imperative singular on buttons, \u00ab \u00bb quotation marks.<br>\nAcross all the LatAm variants I also used celular rather than m\u00f3vil, and replaced pulsar with hacer clic. Existing approved strings were reused as-is everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>Corrections are very welcome \u2014 please treat my suggestions as a starting point. If they\u2019re up to standard, I\u2019d be grateful for PTE access for this project so I can keep these translations current after each release (every release adds a few strings, and a locale that falls below 90% stops getting language-pack updates). A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings.<\/span><\/span><\/span> \u2014 Visita Plugins &gt; A\u00f1adir nuevo\u00bb contains a CJK ideograph (U+2A85E) where the opening \u00ab should be. It renders that way on the localized plugin page today. My suggestion for that string fixes it, but since suggestions don\u2019t overwrite approved strings, it needs an editor to accept it.
