Slimstat and localizations

Greetings, folks. Our pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party, WP Slimstat, has just bee added to glotpressGlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org. More information is available at glotpress.org.. Even though we already ship localizationLocalization Localization (sometimes shortened to "l10n") is the process of adapting a product or service to a particular language, culture, and desired local "look-and-feel." files with our plugin, we are sort of new to the world of GlotPress and online/web translations. A few questions:

  • how do I become a validatorValidator See translation editor. for languages that I know?
  • how does the approval process work for those stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. submitted through the website translate.wordpress.orgtranslate.wordpress.org The platform for contributing to the translation of WordPress core, themes and plugins.?
  • should we stop updating .po filesPO files PO files are human readable files which contain translations we use. These files are not used by WordPress itself. Each language will have its own PO file, for example, for French there would be a fr_FR.po file, for german there would be a de_DE.po, for British English there might be en_GB.po. when our users send us updates via email?
  • what if people submit strings via the website? how do we update the .po files shipped with the plugin to keep them up-to-date?

Thank you in advance!

Hi to all.

Because the person that maintains the Macedonian translation of WordPress is inactive, I want to continue the work. – Most of the translation work for 3.7 and 3.8 is done, but no one has released it until now.

Also, with a group of other translators, we translated the bbPressbbPress Free, open source software built on top of WordPress for easily creating forums on sites. https://bbpress.org. dev because we want to use it on a community forum, so we thought it would be better if we contribute the translation for everyone.

Thanks in advance.

As per discussions during the summit we’ll be…

As per discussions during the summit, we’ll be doing a weekly chat around the issues raised and any others that pop up. I’ve proposed an agenda here, feel free to add to it on this P2p2 "p2" is the name of the theme that blogs at make.wordpress.org use (and o2 is the accompanying plugin). When asked to post something "on the p2" by a member of the Polyglots team, that usually means you're asked to post on the team blog https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/. (not on updates, please).

As to the chat itself, I suggest Tuesdays, on #wordpress-polyglots on IRC, for those who want to be present. Given the spread in timezones however, we need to work out a time that works for everyone. Myself, I am on the GMT timezone and anything from 9:00 to 22:00 GMT is good.
