I would like to request a new WordPress locale for Hiligaynon.

Hiligaynon, also commonly known as Ilonggo, is one of the major languages of the Philippines and is spoken primarily across Western Visayas and parts of Mindanao.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority’s 2020 Census of Population and Housing, Hiligaynon/Ilonggo was the third most commonly spoken language at home in the Philippines, used by approximately 1.93 million households, or 7.3% of households nationwide.

Despite the size of the Hiligaynon-speaking community, Hiligaynon does not currently have its own WordPress locale. I would like to help establish the Hiligaynon translation project for WordPress and encourage other Hiligaynon-speaking WordPress users and contributors to participate.

Since the North Frisian language consists of different varieties “which are to a certain degree mutually incomprehensible” as Walker (2001) describes, I would appreciate your consideration whether the local code could be used to differentiate this translation project from potential future translation projects of other North Frisian varieties, for example by using ISO 639-3ISO 639-3 ISO 639-3 code is an international standard for language codes in the ISO 639 series. It defines three‐letter codes for identifying languages. “frr” with an additional “_fer”, its Glottocode “ferr1240” or something comparable.

I suggest changing the language…

I suggest changing the language from Irish (ga) to English Irish (en_IE). In almost 20 years of living in this country, I have not encountered a website created in this language (it is the second language of the website). The main language of the websites is English. I can become an editor of this language after the change.
