Help needed to translate our support forum title

Dear polyglots,

There’s a support forumSupport Forum WordPress Support Forums is a place to go for help and conversations around using WordPress. Also the place to go to report issues that are caused by errors with the WordPress code and implementations. migrationMigration Moving the code, database and media files for a website site from one server to another. Most typically done when changing hosting companies. going on right now, the forums are being migrated to bbPress2 and we need your help with translating the forum title which is not a stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. right now so we’ll need to do this the old-fashioned way – in a Google Doc.

Here are the languages we need help with. WordPress 4.6 soft string freeze – time to translate (almost) all the things!

Dear polyglots,

As of a few minutes ago, we’re in soft string freezeString freeze The term "string freeze" is used by the core team to mark the end of changes to the strings of an upcoming release. A string freeze also means that there will be no more strings added to the core project. Sometimes a string freeze has two phases a soft freeze and a hard freeze. A string freeze is announced on the Polyglots blog by the current release lead., which means all the stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. for the upcoming WordPress 4.6 release with the exception of the strings from the About page, are frozen and won’t be changed.

The release is scheduled for August 16th, so we recommend that you use the time between now and the hard string freeze (expected on August 5th), to translate and test translation for everything that is included in the 4.6. development project.

Reminding everyone that for a localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ to take advantage of the automatic release process all these projects – WordPress, WordPress Administration , WordPress Network administration and Continents & Cities need to be 100% translated.

Don’t miss Continents & cities, it’s not been updated with new strings in a while but now has several new ones!

This is a notification for General translation editorsTranslation Editor Translation editors can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. WordPress 4.5 Hard String Freeze

Hello Polyglots!

WordPress 4.5 RC2 has just been released, and with it, there is now a hard string freezeString freeze The term "string freeze" is used by the core team to mark the end of changes to the strings of an upcoming release. A string freeze also means that there will be no more strings added to the core project. Sometimes a string freeze has two phases a soft freeze and a hard freeze. A string freeze is announced on the Polyglots blog by the current release lead. for WordPress 4.5 (including the About Page).

My apologies for the delay! I hoped to deliver this news much sooner.

Release proceedings for 4.5 are scheduled to start at April 12, 2016 at 0900 PDT.

WordPress 4.4 string freeze and release date – bring your locales to 100%

WordPress 4.4 RC1 and the soft string freeze for WordPress 4.4 were announced last night. WordPress 4.4 will become available for download on December 8th and it would be amazing if we have 60+ localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ fully translated by that date and ready to go with the official release.

It means it’s time to go ahead and prepare our locales for December 8th.

A hard freeze is the final string freeze before a release. (the about page strings), which will be 100% of all strings for the 4.4 release, should be available for translation next Wednesday (December 2nd). That will give us about 6 days to finalize translations before this release reaches users.

A hard string freeze or a hard freeze is announced when all the strings of the upcoming release are frozen including the strings of the About page. A hard freeze is the final string freeze before a release. since Friday. It would be great if the remaining strings were translated and we were prepared to launch with more than 60 localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/.

Pinging the validators for the locales who have more than 90% translated. If you get a chance, please get your locales ready for the release tomorrow.

Please remember that for the language pack to be automatically built, you need to have the following projects at 100%:

Even though they’re not required for an automatic release, it’s nice to have  Twenty Fifteen and Akismet at 100% too as they come packaged with WordPress.

We’re going to try to adopt the structure of coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.’s chats summaries. Here goes.

Hits:

  • Tagalog has a new translator team thanks to a call for new translator on slackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. worked well. @krzheiyah, @kel and @druesome joined the effort
  • 41 localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ are up to date
  • We have some of the new stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in GlotPressGlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org. More information is available at glotpress.org. ready to translate.

Misses:

  • We still don’t have a 4.x Project on GlotPress
  • No string freezeString freeze The term "string freeze" is used by the core team to mark the end of changes to the strings of an upcoming release. A string freeze also means that there will be no more strings added to the core project. Sometimes a string freeze has two phases a soft freeze and a hard freeze. A string freeze is announced on the Polyglots blog by the current release lead. yet and no information on when it or RC1 is happening (it’s obviously late)
  • 15 locales still behind on 4.0.1. (at the time of the meeting they were 16). @netweb has created a list of locales that are packaged still with 4.0

ToDos:

  • Research how different teams approach communication of translations and create a recommended process for new teams (@petya will work with @vanillalounge and @coachbirgit and post on the P2p2 "p2" is the name of the theme that blogs at make.wordpress.org use (and o2 is the accompanying plugin). When asked to post something "on the p2" by a member of the Polyglots team, that usually means you're asked to post on the team blog https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/.)
  • Work with core to create the 4.x project on GlotPress (that’s on @ocean90 and @nacin)
  •  Think about a way to alert validators and translators that there are new strings to translate and help them with packaging (Thanks to @netweb for raising the question)
  • @petya will add instructions on creating and importing/exporting Glossaries to the Handbook (Thanks to @deconf for pointing out we actually can)

In our weekly chat meeting today, we´ve discussed over a feature request, to implement Google Translator into GlotPress. A feature, that was build in in the past, but was removed after another discussion. (s. here) Sidenote: Some very ambitious validators were misusing it to get their language at 100% and it resulted in very poor translations  Since APIAPI An API or Application Programming Interface is a software intermediary that allows programs to interact with each other and share data in limited, clearly defined ways. keys are needed and if those aren’t passed it will not be displayed and not  because of misusing it.

 

Upcoming concerns from chat

  • Is it useful, to let the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ editor decide, if translation tools are in use
  • it would maybe useful to get a first raw translations for new locale, but for using it needs proofreading
  • a validatorValidator See translation editor. for a locale should be a good native speaker, so doesn´t need a Google Translator
  • If a validator decides to misuse the tool, there’s a very little chance anyone will be able to notice unless a user speaks up.
  • Keep in mind that the Google Translate API is a paid service
  • Maybe part of solution, or just making easier for translators is to list on local site links to online tools for translating and checking spell

Information about Internationalization for developers can be found in the Developer’s handbooks., but unfortunatelly my wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ username and pass wasn’t accepted.

Can you help me, please?

I know and using translate.wordpress.orgtranslate.wordpress.org The platform for contributing to the translation of WordPress core, themes and plugins./projects for current translates, but some reasons I need to upload new and older versions of translating to the SVNSVN Apache Subversion (often abbreviated SVN, after its command name svn) is a software versioning and revision control system.
